Are you looking to create a more cohesive, quality, workwear wardrobe?! I certainly am! Over the past few years I’ve been working on creating a closet with better quality classic pieces. So I wanted to share those pieces and a special brand that I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate over time with called, MMLaFleur! COLORFUL SUITS FOR WORK

Historically, neutral colors are typically what most people think when they think of a professional color palette. Don’t get me wrong I love a neutral suit! However, try a tone that you feel comfortable and love and get that in your favorite suit.

Tip: If you wear a colorful suit, I’d tone down any selected accessories so that the suit is the focal point and that there’s not too much going on with your outfit. I tend to gravitate towards colors that are not too loud or bright. However, try out a color that you love, and see how you feel. You may never go back to a black or beige suit again!

SLEEVELESS TOPS FOR WORK

This is a workwear myth that I’ve actually never understood, which is to not wear your shoulders or full arm out. I’m not complete sure how wearing your upper arms out is unprofessional. However, when it’s warm out, I’ve recently started wearing dressy sleeveless tops. And, whew, it makes a huge difference in how I feel and my comfort during these warm months.

TIP: If you wear a sleeveless top, I’d pair it with trousers or a midi or longer length skirt. Since your full arm is out, I would recommend a fuller pant or skirt to balance the total amount of skin shown with this piece.

DRESSES WITH SNEAKERS FOR WORK

This one is a bit informal and one that I would not recommend for all dress codes. However, if your office dress code is more casusal, I would recommend pairing a dress with sneakers, this truly tones down the look and gives the outfit more of a business casual feel.

TIP: I’d wear a dress right above the knee or longer. I’d also pair the dress with a dressier sneaker, versus a running sneaker.

JUMPSUITS FOR WORK

Finally, last but not least, my absolute favorite a JUMPSUIT! To be honest with you, I don’t think I’ve necessarily heard that jumpsuits aren’t appropriate for the workplace. I actually think a lot of people may not know how to style them professionally. I love jumpsuits for any occasion. And I think they are absolutely appropriate for any dress code depending on the style of the jumpsuit.

TIP: There are so many different styles of jumpsuits! If you work in a more formal environment pair a wide legged or fitted jumpsuit with a blazer. If you work in a more business casual environment wear a jumpsuit on it’s own or with a coordinated cardigan.

Since I’ve been in the office, I’ve realized that I keep pulling for specific items that have been on rotation during the cold weather months. If you’re struggling with looking good and staying warm, this article will help you with what items you can integrate into your winter capsule wardrobe to accomplish just that!

These items are basics so, likely, you may already have these pieces in your wardrobe. I also love to layer during the winter. This styling technique of course serves two purposes. Keeping you warm all while adding additional interest to a basic outfit.

WINTER TOPS

Next, let’s move to tops. I’ve been LOVING clean cut turtlenecks. There’s so much that you can do with them. You can wear them on their own, wear them underneath botton ups, and you can of course wear them underneath blazers. And that’s just a few examples.

WINTER BOTTOMS

As for botthms, I really like to be comfortable. Honestly, in general I’m all for comfort. So I want to share with you the most comfortable line of pants at Express, which I’ve included below. I also love to wear culottes with boots or culottes with tights and a heel. Culottes are perfect because they give you space to feel comfortable with your layered bottoms and room to move freely when you pair the bottoms with boots. And finally denim which are really the best to wear during cold months to help stay warm. I will say that since most of my denim are really fitted I like to wear them on days when I don’t have on additional layers so I don’t feel extremely uncomfortable.

WINTER HATS

My preference for winter hats is that whatever hat that I’m wearing on a consistent basis, it MUST HAVE a satin interior lining.

Finally to top the look off, are our beloved winter coats. What I’d recommend for coats are neutral tones to incoproate into your winter capsule wardrobe. The reason why I love investing in a nice neutral coat is because you can get so much wear out of it. You can of course mix a neutral coat with a colorful outfit or with a neutral tone outfit. So this piece goes a long way and can be paired across the board.

UNDERGARMENTS

I’m sure so many of you wore long johns growing up! Well, integrating adult like “long john” pieces are so so important to staying warm without looking ridiculous! Each day I typically wear 1 additional layer under my cloths, or if it’s super cold, I incorporate 2 layers. And MAN, let me tell you, you may even break a good sweat. My staple undergarments include: fluffy socks, an insulated top and insulated leggings.

I hope this article is helpful for you to build a sustainable winter workwear wardrobe full of essential quality pieces that will last, help you stay warm, AND LOOK GOOD all while killing the game at work.

Plaid is one of those patterns that will stand the test of time.

Plaid weins and weens in popularity from season to season. However, this pattern always tends to come back in style one way or the other. over time. Recently, I’ve seen more plaid pieces styled inside and outside of the office and I’m loving the inspiration.

I recently received this beautiful plaid suit from THE FOLD LONDON (gifted), and I fell in love. However, what was most challenging was styling the suit since it’s definitley a stand out piece. So I’m going to share my 3 tips on how to style a patterned suit for the office.

1. Choose a neutral color that will compliment the colors within the pattern.
2. If the trousers has belt loops, select a contrasting belt that will help to break up the business of the pattern.
3. Find a pair of shoes that coordinates with the color of the belt to ensure there’s cohesion with the accessories and footwear.

Remember, at the end of the day you should do what makes you feel and look your best! So these tips by no means are the only tips you can use when styling a patterned suit.

The great thing about this wig is that you can style it in multiple ways. You can pull it back into a ponytail, back into a bun, or just wear it down. Like I mentioned before, you will get an extremely realistic look with this wig. I also can’t wait to brush it out. I’m sure it will give a very different beautiful look! I absolutely adore The Fold London. I have spoken a few times about how I want to invest in quality pieces that I will be able to get various wear out of for an extended period of time. And The Fold London is one of those workwear brands that I can do just that.

Nude footwear should come in a variety colors that match your skin tone.

Growing up, I always considered a nude item, whether it was a pair of shoes, undergarments, or tights to naturally be a few shades lighter than my own skin. It wasn’t until I was exposed to brands such as Nubian Skin and Kahmune that broadened my perspective around nude colored items. This all seems very obvious that nude items should, for the most part, coincide with the color of one’s skin to give the “nude effect”… Right! Am I right? However, growing up,  I had never experienced a brand that catered specifically to those with darker skin tones. Or, even a brand that sold items that provided a range of colors for an array of skin tones. Was this your experience as well? Or was it just mine
